DAVID DRAHMS Founder

David Drahms launched TechEngine Capital to partner with business owners underserved by traditional private equity firms and strategic acquirers. Prior to TechEngine Capital, he spent nearly 20 years investing in early stage b2b software startups with Osage Venture Partners, where he currently serves as a Venture Partner. He joined Osage in 2005 to help form its first venture fund and played a lead or supporting role in funding over 50 startups across multiple funds. He also led the annual Osage CTO Summit, as well as the Osage acceleration platform, which shares best practices with portfolio companies to accelerate their growth. Prior to Osage, David was a mechanical engineer and project manager at Teradyne, where he was part of a team designing and building the company’s next-generation semiconductor test equipment. 

As a board member, investor, or advisor, David has had the privilege of partnering with several successful companies, including Automated Insights (acquired by Vista Equity), InstaMed (acquired by JPMorganChase), VividCortex (acquired by SolarWinds), DCI (acquired by Marlin Equity), BioProcure, Earnest Analytics, and Indico Data. He also has operating experience, having served in a full-time role as Executive Chair of VividCortex, the leading performance monitoring platform for open source databases. 

David lives in upstate New York with his wife, three children, and fluffy dog. David is Co-Chairman of the University of Rochester’s Newman Community Advisory Board and is a Board Member of Upstate Capital.
